Today we were lucky to have the Sierra Club of BC come do a workshop with the grade 4/5 classes. https://sierraclub.bc.ca/
We learned about 4 local plants (Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir, Saskatoon Berry, Oregon Grape) and what they have been used for traditionally and currently. It was a great afternoon spent in the classroom (tasting tea and jam, smelling and observing different specimens) and we were also able to go out and see all of these plants in their natural habitat.
